Montgomery College has been recognized by Premium Schools as the best online community college in Maryland and one of the best in the country.
Premium Schools recently identified the top online community colleges in each state. Montgomery College was singled out for its seven online degrees and various certificates, providing students with opportunities to earn a credential even if they are not able to attend classes on campus.
“In recent years, Montgomery College has expanded its online programming and is one of the best online community colleges in the nation,” Premium Schools wrote in an email to the College.
Dr. Sanjay Rai, senior vice president for Academic Affairs, said the College has always focused on being accessible to all students in the community.
“Over the last five years, we have attempted to provide more options to our students and created several online degrees, z-degrees and z-courses,” Rai said. “These efforts result in providing more flexible, accessible and affordable educational opportunities to our residents in the County.”
Montgomery College currently has online degrees in Business, Computer Science and Technologies (two tracks), Criminal Justice (two tracks), Early Childhood Educational Technology and General Studies. Several others are currently awaiting approval from the Maryland Higher Education Commission.
“We are excited about the future of online learning at Montgomery College,” said Dr. Michael Mills, vice president of E-Learning, Innovation and Teaching Excellence. “We want to make sure students taking online courses have the same support services as those attending classes on campus.”
Dr. Rai said the College is honored to be recognized as one of the top online community colleges in the United States: “This recognition is a true testament of our efforts in this space, and we are most certainly pleased and honored.”
