This afternoon, Montgomery College President DeRionne P. Pollard sent a memo to all MC employees…
“As president of Montgomery College, it is with deepest gratitude that I express my thanks to County Council President Nancy Navarro, Councilmember Craig Rice, Chair of the Education and Culture Committee and the entire Council, and your staffs, for showing your commitment to education in Montgomery County by approving our request of just over three million dollars in county funding.
The council also acted to fund the needed construction dollars for the Catherine and Isiah Leggett Math and Science Building at the Takoma Park/Silver Spring Campus. It’s clear that the council understands the College’s role as an anchor institution in our community as we help create the workforce of tomorrow and help build a thriving and just community.
Montgomery College’s goal to keep tuition affordable and opportunities accessible, while ensuring equity in student excellence and success, would not be possible without your support of the faculty and staff who work tirelessly each day to deliver on this mission. By reaching this agreement today to fully fund the College’s operating budget and funding key capital priorities like the Leggett Building, we’re continuing a collaboration that makes higher education not just a dream, but a reality to all.”
