Montgomery College Single Parent Conference This Saturday, Aug. 11 at MC-Rockville
WHAT: Montgomery College is holding its second annual Single Parent Conference, organized through the College Educational Opportunity Center (EOC), a federally funded TRIO program. The conference will take place Saturday, August 11, 2018 on the Rockville Campus from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Attendees will participate in workshops, visit with exhibitors, connect with other parents, and tour Montgomery College.
Being a single parent in today’s world can be demanding—and stressful. Single parents are busy raising their children, managing their family’s finances, creating life-work balance, and seeking support networks. The conference will offer workshops addressing housing, health, education, financial and credit planning, as well as topics ranging from the social and safety aspects of dating to the complexities of raising a son or daughter for single parents of the opposite sex.
WHO: Montgomery College wants to connect single-parent families with the resources necessary to thrive. In this one-day seminar, single parents from the community can get the help they need to succeed—and talk with other single parents facing the same challenges.
There will be event organizers available to media to answer questions in English and/or Spanish.
WHEN: Saturday, August 11, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
WHERE: Montgomery College’s Rockville Campus, Science Center Building, 51 Mannakee St., Rockville, MD 20850. Free parking available in lots 10 and 11.
The free conference also offers a childcare option for up to 40 children aged 4 to 8 if their parents are Montgomery County residents or Montgomery College students. A private nursing station will be available for breastfeeding mothers.
NOTE: The conference has reached full capacity.
