MC-Rockville Men’s Basketball Wins Region, Hosts District Title Game Knights to Face Top-Ranked Davidson County Saturday in Rockville
After winning the Region XX title, the Montgomery College-Rockville men’s basketball team will host Davidson County Community College (N.C.) in the District VII championship game Saturday, March 5 at 1 p.m. on the Rockville Campus. The Knights (21-9) won the 2011 Region XX Division III men’s basketball championship by defeating CCAC-Allegheny, 71-62, Friday, February 25 to advance to the District championship. This will be the first time the Rockville Campus has hosted a District championship basketball game.
Davidson County Community College, 31-1, is the top-ranked NJCAA Division III men’s basketball team in the nation. The winner will advance to play in the NJCAA Division III national tournament at Sullivan County Community College in Loch Sheldrake, NY, March 10-12.
Tickets for Saturday’s District championship are $5 for adults and free for all Montgomery College students, faculty, staff, and administrators and children under the age of 12. The game will be played in the Physical Education Center located at 51 Mannakee Street, Rockville, MD, 20850. Spectators can also get to the Physical Education Center from the North Campus Drive entrance of Montgomery College.
