Event Is Convened in Partnership with NARFE/MD and AARP/MD
The Maryland Federation of Chapters of the National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association (NARFE) and AARP Maryland (AARP/MD) are convening a District 8 Congressional Candidates Forum and a Senatorial Candidates’ Forum on Saturday, September 17, 2016 in the Bioscience Education Center located at the Pinkney Innovation Complex for Science and Technology on the Germantown Campus of Montgomery College. The forum for District 8 candidates Dan Cox (R) and Jamie Raskin (D) will be held from 1 to 2:15 p.m. Senate Candidates Kathy Szeliga (R) and Chris Van Hollen (D) are scheduled from 2:30 to 4 p.m. Germantown Campus Vice President and Provost Dr. Margaret Latimer will give welcoming remarks.
The forums will focus on issues important to residents throughout the state of Maryland.
The moderator for the forums will be Evelyn Kirby, the NARFE Regional Vice President for Region II, which includes Maryland and four other states and the District of Columbia.
NARFE represents the over 300,000 federal and postal employees and retirees and their survivors who reside in Maryland. The state is also home to the Headquarters of the Social Security Administration in Baltimore, the U.S. Census Bureau in Suitland, the National Security Agency at Fort Meade, and the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda. AARP/MD is a membership organization of seniors throughout the state and operates as a nonprofit advocate for its members.
Attendees will include NARFE and AARP members, interested citizens of Maryland and constituents, and invited press. Registration is required for this forum. All are invited to attend this event.
