Montgomery College-Rockville Names Interim Head Baseball Coach
Montgomery College-Rockville has appointed Rick Price to be its new interim head baseball coach. Price, one of the most successful American Legion head coaches in Maryland, led Gaithersburg Post 295 to the 2010 Maryland state championship. Price’s Post 295 teams have won three state championships in the last 10 years and won the county championship 10 times in the last 20 years.
“We’re extremely excited to have Rick on board,” said Mark Crutchfield, athletic director at Montgomery College. “He’s going to bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to the Knights baseball program as well as a proven track record for success.”
Price, a former Montgomery College baseball player, will be joined on his staff by veteran high school coach and former teammate at MC, Bill Wright. During his 24 years as the varsity baseball coach at Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School, Wright’s team captured nine division titles and two regional championships, reaching the state final in 1988 and 1989.
“When I was approached about the opportunity, I wanted to make sure that if I took this on, it was done right,” Price said. “With Bill (Wright) joining me, and the staff coming together, things are looking good.”
Montgomery College plays in Division III of the National Junior College Athletic Association and is a member of the Maryland Junior College Athletic Conference. The Knights’ home games are played at Knights Field on the Rockville Campus, 51 Mannakee Street, Rockville.
