Montgomery College Student Benefit Concert Features Jazz Artist Marcus Johnson

Award-Winning Artist and Student Jazz Ensemble to perform March 13 on Rockville Campus

Montgomery College presents an evening with award-winning jazz artist Marcus Johnson and the Montgomery College Student Jazz Ensemble on Friday, March 13 at 7:30 p.m. at the Robert E. Parilla Performing Arts Center on the Rockville Campus, located at 51 Mannakee Street, Rockville, Md.

Johnson has released more than 10 CDs, all reaching the Top 20 or higher on Billboard’s contemporary jazz charts. From his first independent release, “Lessons in Love,” to his latest, “Phoenix,” Johnson has generated loyal fans and garnered high praise from jazz critics. Johnson was born in Ohio and raised in Washington, D.C. He received a bachelor’s degree in music from Howard University and an M.B.A. and J.D. from Georgetown University. After independently producing his first musical recording and forming his first company, Marimelj Entertainment Group, he joined forces with Black Entertainment Television CEO Robert Johnson to create Three Keys Music, Studio 8121, and two music publishing companies.

General admission tickets to the benefit concert are $25 and $10 for Montgomery College students. The proceeds from the concert will benefit student scholarships for the College’s Music Department. To purchase tickets, call 240-567-5301.
