Lt. Gov. Brown to Present Check for Future Rockville Campus Science Center

MC Professors to Deliver a Series of Talks on Recent Advances and Issues in Science

On Thursday, October 16, at 10 a.m., Montgomery College welcomes Lieutenant Governor Anthony Brown as he presents the College with a check for nearly $30 million to support the construction of the new Rockville Science Center. This new science and engineering building will provide state-of-the-art classrooms, labs, and specialized equipment that will help us to meet the challenge of providing the highest quality of education and training for the next generation of scientists and engineers.

The four-story building will be the new home to Montgomery College’s Biology Department, Chemistry Department and Physics, Engineering and Geosciences Department. Along with classroom and office space, the 147,000 square foot Science Center will feature 14 biology labs, nine chemistry labs, six physical science labs, a greenhouse and a rooftop observatory.

Located on a 3.5 acre site in the southwest corner of the Rockville Campus, construction of the Center is expected to be complete in 2011.
